Under the general direction of the Director and Senior Coordinators, the fitness specialist is responsible for daily oversight of the Kirmayer Recreation Center, in conjunction with assisting the the development, maintenance and administration of a comprehensive fitness program. The (Applicants selected for an interview will be required to perform a 30 minute practical personal training audition.) Fitness Specialist will lead efforts to foster the coordinated growth and development of all Kirmayer Center fitness programs for a diverse campus community, as well as develop collaborative programs and marketing initiatives.

Required Qualifications
Associate of Arts (AA) degree required in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, or other related field

Holds a nationally accredited personal training certification (ACSM, NASM, ACE, NSCA, etc)

CPR/First Aid Certified, or complete within six weeks of hire

Available nights (6-10 pm) and some weekends

Ability to operate an office work station, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet and other software currently in use.

Demonstrated ability to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student population and campus community

Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Ability to work in environment that requires standing for up to 6 hours at a time

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field

One year or more experience in the area of personal fitness

Holds a nationally recognized group fitness certification (ACE, AFAA)

Ability to lead a variety of group fitness classes
