Preferred knowledge and skills include:
Demonstrated experience working in or managing a retail or service oriented environment.
Demonstrated experience working with vendors or partners to execute projects.
Demonstrated experience working for a financial services or insurance company
Candidates with life coaching experience a plus.
Flagship operating hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Thursday, Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (event nights)
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Note: Open at 8:00 a.m. for Farmer's Market Saturdays.)
Sunday: 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
American Family Insurance has been protecting the dreams of our customers for over 84 years. With the launch of our new brand positioning, we are engaging customers and changing the conversation about insurance. As an extension of the dreams campaign, American Family is launching a flagship store on the Capitol Square in downtown Madison to showcase the best our brand has to offer. The Flagship Store Manager builds and strengthens relationships by providing guests with a unique multi-sensory experience that encourages them to dream more and put those dreams into action. This position provides leadership to dream curator and dream protector positions maintaining overall quality, day-to-day store operations, and event management and execution. This store`s success will be measured on its ability to drive brand engagement, test new environments and showcase the brand elements to existing and potential customers, employees and agents.
Brand Exploration (25%)
Drives brand engagement and showcases the brand elements to customers, consumers, employees and agents.
Implements corporate and brand developed business plans for the space.
Manages the execution of the design and content changes for the space to encourage repeat visits.
Manages the technology tools used in the space to interact with customers and encourage engagement.
Promotes the culture, values, and mission of the company.
Assists in adopting brand stories to the retail environment.
Tracks and reports on customer interactions.
Store Events (25%)
Executes corporately developed in-store events that build brand loyalty and generate new interest.
Oversees execution of all operational and logistical functions related to store events.
Develops knowledge of the local community and its dynamics in order to provide input to marketing events and promotions for the store.
Develops, maintains, and cultivates community contacts to enhance American Family visibility and maximize store success.
Manages the annual events calendar for the store.
Ensures events are staffed appropriately and seeks additional corporate or agency resources as needed.
Uses knowledge of the brand to evaluate and prioritize requests from external companies for event partnerships.
Solicits participant feedback to understand customer needs and the needs of the local community.
Analyzes event results in order to refine and improve future events.
Store Operations Management (25%)
Ensures that established policies and procedures are followed, delegating responsibilities to staff as needed to meet store objectives. Provides feedback and suggestions to corporate business partners in regards to process improvement or policy changes.
Creates staff schedules to ensure coverage of store hours and any afterhours events or activities.
Ensures the store is equipped with all required marketing and branding supplies and promotional items.
Participates in annual budget preparation for the store.
Maintains appropriate operational and risk management controls to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Performs cash handling and banking activities.
Oversees the housekeeping and general maintenance of the store. Maintains a neat and professional atmosphere at all times.
Ensures all security procedures are strictly followed. Protects monies and physical assets of the store in cooperation with corporate facilities and security.
Management/Leadership for Department or Unit (10%)
Manages direct reports, systems, and projects to achieve department/unit goals in accordance with Company policies and practices.
Prepares and analyzes department/unit plans and reports.
Provides leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area.
Creates an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance, and maintaining open communications.
Develops staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments, and establishing performance & development plans.
Learning Lab and Model Office (5%)
Directs customer interaction with new products, services, or tools that are not ready for full- launch. Answers customer questions and gathers feedback for corporate business partners.
Partners with the Innovation team on experiments to be conducted in the store. Gathers requested data and information and assists in the reporting of findings.
Measures how customers engage with the design of the model office environment. Provides feedback to corporate marketing and sales on design aspects that resonate with customers.
Sales and Service (5%)
Transfers customers to the store`s dream protectors for policy service or sales needs.
Ensures customers` service and sales needs are achieved whether it is through the store or through an agency.
Strategies Linked to the Division's Business Goals/Results (5%)
Establishes, communicates, and implements departmental plans, objectives, and strategies.
Participates as a member of the Management Team.
Maintains an active awareness of American Family's business environments, corporate culture, and structure to support key decision-making.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements
Demonstrated management or leadership experience.
Demonstrated event planning and execution experience.
Solid knowledge and understanding of marketing concepts, strategies, practices and tools, including brand position.
Demonstrated involvement in community events, networks or groups.
Valid driver's license required plus an acceptable driving record.
This position requires travel up to 10% of the time.
This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
This position requires the ability to climb or balance between 1 and 33% of the time.
This position requires the ability to reach with hands and arms between 1 and 33% of the time.
This position requires the ability to stand between 33 and 66% of the time.
This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds between 1 and 33% of the time.
