Southern Nuclear, headquartered in Birmingham, AL, operates Southern Company's six nuclear reactors at three locations in Georgia and Alabama: two reactors at Plant Vogtle, near Waynesboro, GA; two reactors at Plant Hatch, near Baxley, GA; and two reactors at Plant Farley, near Dothan, AL. In addition, planning and excavation activities are underway for the future construction of two new reactors at our Plant Vogtle location. We currently have opportunities located at our corporate headquarters in Birmingham, AL for a Fleet Scheduling Specialist.

FLEET SCHEDULING SPECIALIST (BIRMINGHAM, AL)

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the governance and oversight of detailed schedules for online work management and forced, planned, and refueling outages across the fleet. The contact person for all things related to the interface of Maximo, P6 and ESOMs. Soley responsible to ensure all outage and online reporting and scheduling is consistently applied across the fleet. Acts as a mentor to the Site Lead Schedulers, Cycle Planners, and Discipline Schedulers to ensure schedule philosophies are appropriately applied across the fleet.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Experience directing operations activities or planning / scheduling maintenance resources in at least 2 refueling outages or 5 years of online scheduling.
Personal computer (PC) knowledge
Intradepartmental communication skills (verbal and written)
Minimum of 5 years directly related experience, with 2 years nuclear power/commercial experience with 5 years in a work scheduling role. Preference will be given to candidates with at least three years exempt plant maintenance, scheduling, planning, or work management experience.
Experience with ESOMs / Maximo / P6

Current or previous SRO license or certification

Shutdown Safety Program knowledge

Technical BS Degree

Working knowledge of mainframe and PC based scheduling tools

FLS / managerial experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Works directly with the Site Lead Schedulers, Lead Unit Planners, Cycle Planners, and Discipline Schedulers to oversee the detailed schedule (online and outage) and outage plan development for the upcoming unit outages to ensure sound logic applied and shutdown safety is maintained in a manner consistent with fleet procedures, processes, and goals.
Provides mentoring function over the site schedule groups. Mentors, coaches, trains and develops schedulers to ensure a consistent approach to scheduling, IAW the guidance of the fleet.
Provide oversight to all site departmental planners, schedulers, and specialized teams for the outage plan and schedule preparation and execution, to ensure consistent application of fleet policies.
Fills the role of Corporate lead for the Shutdown Safety Program.
Stays abreast of the latest schedule technologies, updates procedures and practices, develops training programs and ensures all site schedulers are fully qualified to perform their functions.
Monitors all major System Outage Window development and execution for online work management. Ensures consistent practices are being used in Fragnet development and execution.
