The Fleet Services Mechanic Journeyman operates repairs, sets up, and maintains City vehicles and equipment. In addition, this position advises about equipment conditions for repair, safe operation and responds to any emergency situations as needed. The primary position responsibilities and areas of impact are:
Specializes in light duty or heavy equipment and inspects, performs diagnostics, preventative maintenance and major repairs to multiple component systems—ignition, engine, drive trains, brakes and electrical.
Maintains accurate and complete records of all maintenance activities, identifies parts and supplies required using computerized systems provided.
Maintains competency and acquires ASE certifications in specialty areas.
Maintains an excellent driving record.
Maintains a Class B State of Minnesota drivers license
While these areas are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as a part of their role with the City.
Education : Degree or certificate automotive repair (technical school or college)
Work Experience: (1) year experience in automotive repair or related field
Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to lift/carry/pull at least 50lbs. frequently, 50-75lbs. occasionally.
