Accountable to: Chief Flight Attendant
Position Summary: Responsible for the safety, comfort, and security of passengers before, during, and after flight
Areas of Accountability/Essential Functions:
Performs all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures
Maintains safety and security of passengers and crew before, during, and after flight in assigned aircraft in accordance with Federal Regulations and In-flight Service Manual
Conducts pre-flight and post-flight inspection of aircraft in accordance with Federal Regulations and In-flight Service Manual
Maintains cabin cleanliness and sanitary conditions of commissary and equipment
Provides in-flight safety briefings and service to passengers in accordance with Federal Regulations and In-flight Service Manual
Complies with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) policies and regulations
Represents Great Lakes Airlines in a professional manner at all times; reports to work in Company-approved uniform
Carries/maintains In-flight Service Manual, company-approved flashlight with batteries, i dentification badge(s), watch with second hand, and demonstration oxygen mask while on duty
Interacts professionally with passengers, coworkers, and the public
Communicates pertinent information to crew, passengers, supervisors, managers, and outstation personnel with a need-to-know in a timely manner
Follows direction given by Company Management and Supervisors; assists in all areas as assigned
Communicates professionally with others using Company-owned radio and public address system equipment
Assists unaccompanied minors and passengers with special needs as required
Handles Company mail (COMAT), including, but not limited, to transfers to aircraft
Performs assigned job duties in a safe and efficient manner
Responds to passenger questions/complaints as necessary
Ability to work under pressure
Ability to perform all procedures and follow all policies outlined in the ISM
Ability to handle and resolve conflict and problems as they arise
Ability to work independently and as a team
Ability to communicate in a professional manner
Ability to complete all job functions and assignments with little or no direct supervision

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English
Previous Airline experience a plus
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
Moderate to high noise levels; may require use of hearing protection equipment
Sitting for long periods
Frequent bending, reaching, climbing stairs, kneeling/crouching, twisting, walking, pushing, and pulling; operating a/c doors weighing up to 75lbs
Frequent writing and reading
Working in the confined space of an aircraft cabin
May be exposed to chemicals
At least 21 years of age
Must be at least 5 ft in height; may be no taller than 5 ft, 11inches in height; must fit in jumpseat using installed safety belt without use of belt extender
Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
May be required to work early mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends; any shift/schedule as assigned; includes extended stays due to irregular operations; travel may require overnight/multiple night stays away from home
Training is two weeks long and is held in Cheyenne, Wyoming and at times other training locations. Great Lakes Aviation will provide lodging for the two-week period; however, you will have a roommate. Meals are not included during training so you will have to provide food and drinks for yourself.
Great Lakes Aviation will also provide transportation to training but only by means of Great Lakes. We can not travel you on another carrier until you are hired. (You can check to see if you live close to one of our cities by going to http://www.flygreatlakes.com) These two weeks are made up of long, grueling days, some of which may exceed 12 hours or more. You must be able to keep up with the heavy workload and continue to study hard throughout the training period. The good news is that Great Lakes Aviation will pay you for the first 40 hours of your training at your starting rate upon completion of your Check Ride, which will be conducted upon successful completion of the ground training. This pay is yours to keep as long as you fulfill your six-month training contract.
Great Lakes Aviation pays flight attendants $17.83 per flight hour for the first year of employment. Flight attendants continue to get a raise at each yearly anniversary as long as he/she remains at the company. Flight attendants are guaranteed 75 hours of pay per month. In other words, you will be paid for 75 hours of work (sort of like a salary) even if your actual flight time is less than the 75 hour minimum. You will also receive
$1.50 per diem per hour when you are away from your base. Please make sure that you understand this. If you do not, please include questions when you respond back.
Schedules are awarded according to seniority. On or about the 10th of each month, a bid packet for the following month is available to all crew members. The packet is due back typically by the 15th. Each flight attendant will pick his/her most desirable schedule for that particular month out of the scheduled lines. If a flight attendant does not find any of the schedules to his/her liking, he/she may choose to bid reserve.
Reserve means that during days of scheduled reserve, the flight attendant must be within 1 hour and 45 minutes of either airport to take flights as needed. All flight attendants are guaranteed 10 days off per month and schedules will be awarded approximately 10 days prior to the next month (so about the 20th of each month). Denver schedules are built with some nights away from home. Williston schedules are built with all day trips; which means that you are scheduled to be home (in Williston) every night.
