Position: Flight Attendant Training Instructor

Location: As Assigned

Department: Flight Operations

Accountable to: Director of Training

Position Summary: Responsible to train, mentor, and assist new hires; also performs duties of a Flight Attendant and Check Flight Attendant.

Areas of Accountability/Essential Functions:
Performs all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures

Performs Check Flights as a qualified Check Flight Attendant on new hire and current Flight Attendants and submits required documentation to the training department

Instructs class as described in In-Flight Operations and Crew Member/Dispatcher Training Manuals

Develops training materials for training classes

Maintains safety and security of passengers and crew before, during, and after flight in assigned aircraft in accordance with Federal Regulations and In-flight Service Manual

Conducts pre-flight and post-flight inspection of aircraft in accordance with Federal Regulations and In-flight Service Manual

Maintains cabin cleanliness and sanitary conditions of commissary and equipment

Provides in-flight safety briefings and service to passengers in accordance with Federal Regulations and In-flight Service Manual

Complies with all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) policies and regulations

Represents Great Lakes Airlines in a professional manner at all times; reports to work in Company-approved uniform

Carries/maintains In-flight Service Manual, company-approved flashlight with batteries, identification badge(s), watch with second hand, and demonstration oxygen mask while on duty

Interacts professionally with passengers, coworkers, and the public

Communicates pertinent information to crew, passengers, supervisors, managers, and outstation personnel with a need-to-know in a timely manner

Follows direction given by Company Management and Supervisors; assists in all areas as assigned

Communicates professionally with others using Company-owned radio and public address system equipment

Assists unaccompanied minors and passengers with special needs as required

Handles Company mail (COMAT), including, but not limited to, transfers to aircraft

Performs assigned job duties in a safe and efficient manner

Responds to passenger questions/complaints as necessary

Assists Chief Flight Attendant with other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:
Knowledge/Skill/Ability:
Ability to work under pressure

Ability to perform all procedures and follow all policies outlined in the ISM

Ability to handle and resolve conflict and problems as they arise

Ability to work independently and on a team

Ability to communicate in an effective and professional manner

Ability to complete all job functions and assignments with little or no direct supervision

Ability to clearly hear and communicate using radios and/or public announcement systems

Computer proficiency; including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook Programs

Education/Training/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English

Previous Great Lakes Flight Attendant experience a plus

Training/Teaching experience a plus

Previous Airline experience a plus

Previous training experience a plus

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Working indoors and outdoors in all types of weather

Moderate to high noise levels; may require use of hearing protection equipment

Sitting and standing for long periods

Frequent bending, reaching, climbing stairs, kneeling/crouching, twisting, walking, pushing, and pulling; operating a/c doors weighing up to 75lbs

Frequent writing and reading

Working in the confined space of an aircraft cabin

May be exposed to chemicals

Other Requirements:
At least 21 years of age

Must be at least 5 ft in height; may be no taller than 5 ft, 11inches in height; must fit in jumpseat using installed safety belt without use of belt extender

Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

May be required to work early mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends; any shift/schedule as assigned; includes extended stays due to irregular operations; travel may require overnight/multiple night stays away from home. Must be highly flexible with work schedule.
