A floor care technician performs major floor cleaning and refinishing functions in accordance with the standards set by the Environmental Services Department and in accordance with hospital objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support and participate in the continuous assessment and improvement of the quality of care and services provided.
Perform floor care functions in assigned areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods
Strip and wax floors as assigned
Maintain floors as assigned by spray buffing, burnishing or shower scrubbing and top coating.
Shampoo carpets as assigned.
Remove smaller spots and stains from carpet as assigned
Follow departmental safety procedures in sectioning of work area with the proper barriers and signage.
Receive training and comply with the procedures for handling, mixing, using labeling and disposal of all chemicals used in the performing job functions. Know how to read a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS). Know correct methods of cleaning up chemical spills and the procedure for reacting to chemical exposure.
Maintain cleanliness as assigned equipment and report the need for repair.
Maintain cleanliness of assigned areas, including but not limited to, removal of trash bags, removal of linen bags, meeting room set up and delivering beds to patient units.
Must pass pre-employment assessment, drug screening, and annual screening.
Must (after training) be able to read and write some English.
Must have prior experience or must demonstrate the proper skills and knowledge of the proper use of chemicals and equipment in stripping, refinishing and maintaining floors and in shampooing carpeting to achieve the desired results.
