QUALIFICATIONS Education: Two year associate degree in a Dietary Technician, Chef, Hotel/Motel Restaurant program area, or BS/BA degree as a Home Economist or Nutritionist from an accredited college or university. OR High School Diploma with three years of experience in an institutional food service setting and successful completion of an approved extension course in food service management during the first year of employment as a supervisor. Licensure: None. Skills: Computer ability; ability to cook and bake institutionally from scratch.

Interpersonal Skills: Accountable for own conduct. Practices good personal relations and encourages others to do the same. Maintains confidentiality and exercises tact and diplomacy. Physical Effort: Light to medium work level of up to 35 pounds.

Approximately ninety percent of the work day is spent moving from place to place within the department or around the medical center. Ability to move food, equipment, and supplies horizontally or vertically from place to place. Hours of Work: Variable work hours. Rotation of shifts, weekends and holidays is required.

Other: Works under the following conditions: Potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical and infectious environmental hazards. Able to respond and perform effectively if an unforeseen immediate need arises within the department and also in stressful situations.
