Hourly Rate: $13.40
Full-time temporary position, 40 hours per week, 5 days per week. Daily work hours are varied with evening and weekend work required. Work schedules and sites are subject to change to meet operational needs to include all dining facilities. Employee participates in the preparation of a wide variety of menu items and does skilled cooking and food preparation. Coordinates food service activities to have meals and venues prepared at scheduled time to include setting up and tearing down serving venues. Operates all food service equipment and machinery. Interacts and serves the customer demonstrating positive customer service skills. Participates in the cleaning of kitchens; may open or close and secure kitchen and dining facilities; maintains records of foods prepared, served, and supplies used; trains and instructs employees in food service safety, cooking and food preparation; supervises student employees; assists with orders and inventories; responsible for proper practice of safety and sanitation techniques; documents according to HACCP guidelines from food preparation to storage; keeps current on appropriate ServSafe procedures; may finish baked goods and uses management system and other basic computer programs for production purposes.
Significant food preparation experience in an institutional setting to include training, instructing and supervising the work of other employees is preferred. Experience in the preparation of a variety of menu items and coordinating food service activities; strong organizational skills with attention to detail; demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; knowledge of basic computer skills; proven judgment, initiative and self-motivation to work independently; and experience providing good customer service required. Employee must be able to lift 40 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and perform duties that require repetitive movements, pushing, pulling and reaching throughout the work day. Employee must have working knowledge and understanding of safety and sanitation practices and procedures, and demonstrate the ability to read and understand labels. Appropriate background checks will be required.
