COMPANY PROFILE: Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana is a nonprofit organization that is leading the fight against hunger in south Louisiana through food distribution, advocacy, education, and disaster response. We distribute food to Louisianans in need through a network of nearly 240 faith-based and nonprofit member agencies across 23 parishes in south Louisiana. For more information about our company, please visit our website at SUMMARY: Position reports to the Inventory Control, Procurement & Public Warehousing Manager. Creates, develops, and implements sales plans for achieving the goals of the food sourcing program. Presents the mission of Second Harvest Food Bank (SHFB) to food companies in exchange for collecting excess food. Implements strategies that will bring more food into SHFB for distribution to agencies in South Louisiana that feed the hungry. Focuses on increasing donations from food drives and large donations from all segments in the food industry.ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all inclusive): Creates sales plans and presentations for a variety of customers such as manufacturers, distributors, brokers, supermarkets, restaurants, hotels/convention centers, or other food-related organizations. Maintains an accurate and up-to-date listing of relationships; makes sales/networking/touch base calls; and submits progress reports as required. Ensures goals of the company's strategic plan are met not only in required food procurement but also in the direction and nature of relationships. Tracks customer response patterns and giving patterns (e.g., timing of donations, usefulness of product donated, nature of relationship, preferred contact method, relationship source). Generates customer-specific presentations and reports in order to cultivate and maintain relationships. Travels throughout southwest Louisiana to secure new accounts and maintain existing accounts. Works 'off-hours' as needed to meet company needs (e.g., food drives, conventions, etc.).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Business development and/or sales and marketing expert with knack for conceptual sales. Bachelor's degree in sales and marketing or related field preferred. 3-5 years progressive sales experience preferably in the food industry. Proven ability to create and execute sales plans to bring in new business while maintaining current accounts. Strong networker and relationship builder. Must be able to work independently and travel throughout southwest Louisiana; occasional travel to the Greater New Orleans area and other locations for training, meetings, conferences, etc. Intermediate-level computer skills required.
