Public Health Seattle & King County's Environmental Health Services Division is seeking a Food and Facilities Section Manager . The Food and Facilities Section Manager is part of the Environmental Health Services Division and reports to the Division Director. The Manager is responsible for 55 employees and manages an annual program budget of $11 million dollars.

To ensure the public's health, food establishments, swimming pools and other public facilities that can spread disease must be kept sanitary and healthy. The food and facilities protection program's environmental health professionals work to ensure that these public businesses are operating with the public's health in mind and in compliance with the law. The program is organized into two parts: Food and Water Recreation.
  • The Food Program's mission is to reduce the prevalence of risk factors that are known to cause foodborne illness. It monitors food safety issues for nearly 11,500 permitted food establishments including restaurants, mobile food vehicles, and grocery stores in King County. The Manager oversees the work of the Food Program staff who conduct plan reviews, issue operating permits, conduct regulatory inspections, provide education and conduct enforcement for businesses to comply with the Food Code.

  • The Water Recreation Program's mission is to minimize the risk of injury and disease at pools, spas, and water parks. Staff conducts plan reviews, issue operating permits, provide education, conduct regulatory inspections and complaint investigations, and conduct code enforcement of the 1800 permitted water recreation facilities in King County.
