Seterus, Inc. is seeking Foreclosure Litigation Corporate Officer who will working independently, often under the general guidance of an attorney or manager, applies a strong knowledge of legal concepts and processes to assist in the more efficient operation of the law department by undertaking a variety of paraprofessional duties, including: performing legal research, conducting fact gathering, analyzing factual data, drafting legal documents of basic to moderate complexity, maintaining and updating files, responding to external requests for information, assisting in responding to discovery requests, preparing summaries for attorneys, participating in the development and implementation of databases, and initiating and developing new procedures and policies.

Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Functions:
• Manages all facets of contested and defensive litigation on case assignments.
• Works with outside counsel to resolve litigation.
• Responsible for minimizing losses to investors and company.
• Responsible for minimizing legal fees and expenses.
• Examines statutes, ordinances, and regulations.
• Examines legal data and loan files to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuit.
• Prepares chargeback materials when appropriate breach of reps and warrants has occurred.
• Provides training to other department on contested foreclosure and bankruptcy issues.
• Maintains blended portfolio of contested and non-contested foreclosure and bankruptcy accounts.
Skills
Environment:
• Strong accounting background.
• Proficient knowledge of industry standard foreclosure procedures.
• Proficient knowledge and experience with live testimony via deposition and/or court appearances via hearings and trials, both with jury and without.
• Proficient knowledge of personal computers using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook/Lotus Notes.
• Ability to learn and operate in-house computer systems and a variety of vendor software applications.
• Skill to type 50 words per minute.
• 10-key.
• Ability to operate general office equipment (photocopier, fax, etc.).
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to details.
• Organizational skills.

• Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, peers, and management through written and verbal communication.
• Ability to communicate with customers, internal departments, and other outside parties in a professional manner.
• Ability to communicate with the legal community in a proficient manner.

Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Two to five years related experience in default mortgage servicing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two years or more Litigation and/or Foreclosure Experience.
• One year or more Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Mediation or Real Estate Experience.
Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 2 years experience in related experience in default mortgage servicing or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • At least 2 years experience in litigation and/or foreclosure
  • At least 1 year experience in bankruptcy, mediation, or real estate
  • Readiness to travel 75% travel annually
  • English: Fluent

Preferred
  • At least 5 years experience in related experience in default mortgage servicing or equivalent combination of education and experience
