Fast- growing, entrepreneurial, natural personal care manufacturer seeking Chemist to join team. Candidate must be able to work independently in a fast- paced deadline driven environment, managing multiple projects in skincare, baby care and hair care product development. Ideal candidate possesses strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. A successful candidate is creative, responsive, detail oriented and able to work in a non-traditional, challenging environment. Chemist responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Review and update of all production formulas, quality control test methods and in-process information as required by regulations and product innovation strategy
Implementation and management of testing in R&D, QA, and QC and all aspects of OSHA and Hazardous material handling, development and maintenance of product information database to support and facilitate inquiry responses
Formulation of new and updating existing personal care products, researching new and innovative raw materials and technologies on a consistent basis
Development and implementation of improved process control strategies for batch manufacturing and processing equipment, test methods and new products to assure continued improvement in production consistency and product development
Performance of quality checks, testing, analysis and troubleshooting of any issues related to production, product development or product stability
Maintenance of laboratory equipment according to GLP and SOP standards
Monitor and respond to information requests regarding FDA and international industry requirements and regulations; including organizing international product registration, authoring MSDS and Certificate of Analysis

  • BS or BA in chemistry or related science required
  • 3-5 years of experience in cosmetic formulation needed, experience in natural/organic personal care formulation preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of cosmetic formulations, chemistry, organic raw materials, natural preservation systems, and experience with organic/natural product standards in batch manufacturing environment is desired
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and conceptualization skills necessary
  • Familiarity with the personal care market, knowledge of cosmetic regulations, production scale up experience necessary
  • Ability to analyze business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations required
  • Computer proficiency required
