Support retail stores by managing local marketing programs, events and regional or market specific promotions that drive sales and traffic in an assigned region. Ensure correct and effective communication and implementation of national marketing programs; effectively manage Regional Marketing Budget within the parameters given. Serve as primary contact with local media, LSM program partners, charities and cross-promotional partners. Support the promotion of local store adoption events and strengthen the promotional partnership between PETCO and our shelter partners. Coordinate the planning, communication, and implementation of advertised promotional events.
Essential Job Functions
The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities

Create, implement and manage local marketing programs to include traffic driving idea development, negotiation of regional sponsorship fees and benefits, and event coordination with stores.
Working with guidance from the Manager of PR & Field Marketing, support stores in optimizing sales and traffic generation as well as brand awareness in region through Grand Openings, Remodels, Market Makeovers, and VIP events. Along with VPRO and Manager of PR & Field Marketing, track results and monitor performance against forecast of all new stores in region and react accordingly to stores that are under-performing by implementing tools provided by the NSC to build sales and traffic.
Support the regional implementation of National Events like National Adoption Weekends and Photos with Santa through regular communication with stores. Help stores achieve event attendance and sales goals through effective use and communication of NSC provided marketing tools for these events and act as a regional point-person for any problems that arise that could impede excellent execution of these events. Act as regional champion of Field Trip Factory and Aquademics programs for region. Work with stores to leverage these programs to best benefit our customers and stores.
Support the regional implementation of local in-store events including, but not limited to, adoptions, vaccination clinics, vendor demos, dog-owner meet-ups etc.. through the regular communication with stores on implementing effective promotional tactics to achieve attendance and sales goals. Act as a regional point-person for use of Build-an-Event tools and troubleshoot any problems that arise that could impede excellent execution of these events.

Most job duties are performed while seated indoors with little or no exposure to hazards, however approximately 25% travel is required. Considerable local travel via automobile is required to coordinate events, meet vendors, visit stores, etc. Non-standard work hours, such as weekend work, are required to coordinate marketing events.
A four-year degree in sales promotion, advertising or marketing is required, or the equivalent combination of education and experience including college level coursework in marketing, advertising, business or retailing. Minimum three to five years related and progressively responsible experience creating and implementing multi-store retail marketing programs is required. Creative ability, negotiation, excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills are necessary due to the nature of the position when interacting with the public as well as peers and management. In addition, strong skills in a Windows environment including Word, Excel, Access, Powerpoint and Adobe and the strong ability to create documents and spreadsheets are necessary.
