·Must be an experienced professional Editor who
possesses the training, skills, and expertise
·A university-issued degree or certificate in
·Accreditation by a professional association, such as
the American Translators Association (ATA), or other
·A staff position or freelance practice dedicated to
translation or the editing of translations
·Must have basic knowledge of international politics,
public diplomacy and general business
·Must have proven themselves as highly talented and

·Level 4 (Professional Performance):
o Can successfully apply a translation methodology to

technical, and colloquial writing. Able to capture
subtleties, nuances, and tone and register (such as
official, formal, and informal writing).
O Such texts range from commentary reflecting a specific
culture to analysis and argumentation.
O Linguistic knowledge and familiarity with source
language norms enable an individual at this level to
translate and edit handwritten documents and other texts
that represent spontaneous expression characteristic of
o Expression reflects native usage and consistent
control of target language conventions.
o Can edit translated materials outside the individual’s
specialties, but may not reach the absolute subject
matter accuracy of the specialist in the given field.
o The resulting product is a professional translation
which may be subject to quality control.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Word is required
