Rhiza is looking for a Front End Developer/Interaction Designer to become a member of our development team.

If you are a talented developer and designer who is passionate about user-centered design, has a deep awareness of web standards and a solid foundation in HTML, CSS and JavaScript, we want to talk to you. In this position you will be responsible for design, prototyping, development, testing and production deployment. Job duties will be split 70/30 between development and interface implementation and interaction design. We are looking for a detail-oriented, dedicated addition to our team in our Shadyside office.

Responsibilities:
  • Creating and editing online applications using XHTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • Lead the process of defining and documenting functional requirements, use cases and end to end scenarios with project stakeholders
  • Generate and maintain detailed design specifications and interaction models
  • Apply existing user interface paradigms to new features
  • Create detailed page-level wireframes, and functional specifications for engineering team
  • Create high fidelity prototypes using Adobe CS, Illustrator, Photoshop, OmniGraffle or equivalent
  • Keep up to date with best research, theories, best practices, and methodologies in user experience design and usability
  • Observe, understand, and translate research (website usage data, field observation, contextual interviewing, task analysis, usability testing, competitive analyses, industry trends, social trends, and stakeholder interviews) to new user interface designs or improvements to existing interfaces
  • Lead the planning and execution of user testing on prototypes, and/or end products
Requirements:
  • Bachelor°s degree
  • 4+ years of front end development experience and advanced knowledge of XHTML/CSS/JavaScript
  • Deep understanding of current trends in web and UX design
  • Knowledge of design and performance best practices for the web
  • Ability to keep several projects moving ahead simultaneously with a minimum of supervision
  • Skill at cross-browser/mobile compatibility troubleshooting
  • Mobile experience a plus
  • Comfortable collaborating with engineers, researchers, and businesses counterparts alike
  • Ability to estimate level of effort for tasks for design initiatives
  • Ability to lead brainstorming sessions
  • Familiarity with agile software development
  • Strong teamwork and project management skills
  • Excellent written and spoken English
