Basic Job Concept:

Fuel all trucks and top off fluid levels in vehicles. Duties also include assisting mechanics with other job tasks in the garage.

Educational Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience Required:

  • One (1) year experience as a fuel jockey, mechanics assistant or similar experience.

  • Specific Responsibilities:

  • Check all fluid levels on the truck and refrigeration units. Top off all fluids.
  • Check the tire pressure of vehicles and adjust.
  • Fuel trucks and record the amount of fuel and fluids given for each vehicle.
  • Clean truck cabs and wash trucks as directed.
  • Maintain a clean fuel island and help keep the garage area clean and organized.
  • Must adhere to safety rules.
  • Write down mileage and hour meter reading each day on fuel sheet document.
  • Fill out fuel document sheet beginning and end of meter reading.
  • Notify Manager or Mechanic of any problems or concerns.

  • Qualifications:

    The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this job.

  • Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class B. Class A preferred.
  • Must be able to operate small and large straight trucks.

  • Physical Requirements:

    The Physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to perform the essential functions of this job.   • Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, lift overhead and manipulate tools effectively.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Be able to work in confined spaces.
  • Pass the D.O.T Physical each time.
  • Pass the Professional Truck Driver (DDC-PTD) test each year requirement of Sysco.
  • Must be able to climb up on cab walk to check T.K. unit fluids each day.

  • Work Environment:

    Work is typically performed outdoors or in a garage environment requiring climbing, sitting, standing and stooping; and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The employee is regularly exposed to congested and high traffic areas and moving mechanical parts and vehicles, including but not limited to trucks, forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks, and hand carts. The employee is periodically exposed to varying climates with temperatures ranging from zero to ninety-five degrees Fahrenheit.
