The Fuels Systems Superintendent performs site management tasks related to fuel systems including minor construction, maintenance, and repair projects. They also may supervise day-to-day operations of government environmental construction projects.
Coordinate closely with local points of contact at the facility and subcontractors and assist the Project Manager with establishing and maintaining project schedules including start, progress and completion.
Facilitate daily meetings with field team and facilities personnel.
Act as liaison with the project manager, owner, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and/or internal departments on technical and quality related matters.
Work with site health and safety personnel to maintain health and safety requirements and quality control on the site at all times.
Record construction and quality control activities on daily log books.
Provide detailed photographic documentation of work performed.
Prepare and submit accurate and detailed daily reports and other required paperwork for all project activities to ensure all project stakeholders remain informed throughout the project field effort.
Support Project Manager in the preparation of proposals; planning, coordinating, integrating, monitoring, appraising and closing project activities.
Position will be located in our Norfolk, VA office.
High School Diploma plus minimum 6 to 8 years experience in construction/quality control related program management, including 3 years of DoD Fuels related construction/quality control experience, including horizontal and utility construction experience.
Construction manager experience demonstrating the ability to manage and direct subcontractors.
General contractor experience to include self-performing mechanical system repair or construction preferred.
Knowledge of civil, electrical and controls related to fuel storage and hydrant systems preferred, but not required.
Experience managing at least 2 projects under Department of Defense contracts preferred but not required.
The following certifications are preferred but not required: API 653 Inspector; API 570 Inspector; NACE CIP Certification (any level); STI Tank Inspector; AWS Certified Welding Inspector; ASNT Level II or III Certification; and Quality Control Management (QCM) Course (USACE or Navy).
OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER and 30-Hr Construction Certifications are required.
First Aid/CPR certification is required.
Strong verbal communication skills.
