The Social Sciences Department of Onondaga Community College invites applications from enthusiastic and skillful instructors to fill a full-time Assistant Professor tenure-track position in Sociology beginning fall 2013.
Strong candidates must have demonstrated success in curriculum development, the use of technology to enhance learning, academic advisement, course assessment measures, and working with diverse populations of students, especially those underrepresented in higher education.
Onondaga offers a wide range of sociology courses. We are seeking a candidate to teach Introduction to Sociology and one or more of the following areas: Death and Dying, Medical, and/or Social Problems. We are open to candidates developing a course in their area of expertise as well. Familiarity with contemporary (especially global) sociological trends preferred.
Master’s degree in sociology from an accredited college or university and at least three years of college teaching experience in sociology, preferably at the community college or introductory level.
A Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
