Supervises the construction, repair and maintenance of roadway vegetation, landscape and right of way.
Oversees the set-up of work zone safety and uniform traffic control; ensures crew adherence to required safety standards.
Leads and coordinates the tasks of equipment operators and maintenance staff engaged in installation, maintenance and/or repair tasks in public property maintenance.
Ensures crew members adhere to procedures for equipment pre-trip inspection and operations according to the work order's requirements.
Ensures staff training and adherence to practices of safe and proper operation of trades tools and power equipment.
Ensures the accurate and timely maintenance of daily work reports, accident reports, materials and supplies utilization, and related required records and documentation.
Inspects completed work for adherence to work orders, required specifications, proper working and operating condition, and safety standards.
Provides emergency coverage as directed/required; works on standby status according to established departmental schedules.
Provides guidance and instruction to field staff in the more complex aspects of the work.
Participates in the work of crews under charge as needed in order to ensure successful and timely completion of the work.
Assists in the preparation of cost estimates for assigned projects.
Supervises inmates in accordance to the County's Inmate Supervisor Standards.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED; supplemented by three years progressively skilled experience in installation, maintenance and repair tasks associated with public property management; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Valid Commercial Driver's License
While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is frequently required to lift, move or carry objects in excess of 100 pounds; ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles; utilize feet and legs or hands and arms; maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, or navigating narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces; bend body downward and forward by bending spine and legs; move about on hands and knees or hands and feet; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects; and to reach with hands and arms.
While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, and dampness/humidity. While performing the essential functions of this job, the incumbent is occasionally exposed to possible bodily injury from electrical shock; falling from high, exposed places; and moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.
