The City of Champaign Information Technologies Department is seeking a professional for the position of GIS Analyst . Primary responsibilities include the implementation, oversight and coordination of City Geographic Information Systems (GIS) strategies, programs and activities. This position performs daily GIS operations, application development, software support, database administration, data research and analysis. Creates and maintains GIS data, reports, and maps.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: effective operation of City GIS systems and programs; lead and facilitate GIS project teams and committees; collaborate with others to coordinate projects and meet established deadlines. The position requires the ability to work with all City Department, Directors and/or City Council to develop programs and deliver information or services to the public and staff. Ability to take initiative, act responsibly, prevent and solve problems; excellent communication skills and good judgment are required.
The successful candidate will have completed two years of related college or vocational technical school in GIS, computer science, engineering, or related field and two years demonstrated GIS experience including map creation, GIS analysis and database manipulation; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A Bachelor's degree, experience with Autodesk's AutoCAD and Azteca's Cityworks software, understanding of Microsoft Professional Office Suite and related products, proficient use of ESRI GIS software; project management, and a proven ability to provide excellent customer service and lead teams are preferred.
The starting salary is $52,709 - $60,004, DOQ, plus benefits. A valid driver's license and drug screening are required. Applications including cover letter and resume must be submitted online no later than Tuesday, December 18, 2012.
