Develops, maintains and supports custom GIS applications and other applications per the latest programing standards. Administers GIS web services using ArcGIS Server and IIS. Supports application users, creates technical and end user documentation. Maintains GIS public and internal websites. Performs occasional graphic related tasks and executes advanced GIS and cartographic projects as assigned by Information Services Manager. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Examples of Duties:

Develops and maintains GIS applications to meet needs of specific city departments or users and for public consumption. Develops effective workflows to efficiently carry out all associated tasks. Creates and maintains documentation for all applications, both end user instructions and back end technical explanation of code. Trains and learns continuously to stay current with utilized programming languages in order to keep GIS applications at industry standard. Creates and maintains web services using Arcgis Desktop, Arcgis Server and IIS. Communicates with individuals to provide support for application use, discuss requested modification or receive feedback regarding application malfunction. Assesses and researches emerging trends in GIS application programming in order to suggest changes in department priorities to Information Services Manager. Participates in and provides support to database administration tasks with an emphasis on security, backup/retrieval procedures, geodatabase schema development, and geodatabse integration. Develops and maintains non-GIS applications to meet needs of specific city departments or users and for public consumption. Develops effective workflows to efficiently carry out all associated tasks. Updates GIS division internal and external webpages with current application links, maps and information. Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or related field, and two years GIS application development; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Work is performed in a standard office environment. Subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting of objects up to 10 pounds.
