The City of Fort Worth's Transportation and Public Works Department is seeking to hire a Graduate Engineer for the City's new signal timing focus using the latest advanced field controllers and cutting edge software.
This position will support design, construction, and operations of traffic signals and similar traffic control devices; will be pivotal in developing, deploying, and adjusting signal timing and coordination; will investigate citizen concerns about timing and operations, and will perform relevant engineering studies like signal warrants, delay, travel time, and similar studies. Position will need to become fluent in traffic operations and modeling software and be able to communicate concisely and accurately both orally and in writing; operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Skills / Requirements
The following education and/or experience are the minimum standards which provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position:
A Bachelor's degree or higher in civil engineering or other engineering discipline from an accredited college or university required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience or degree emphasis in traffic engineering, and knowledge of Synchro software, signal timing principles and methods, and traffic engineering.
Microsoft Word and Excel skills required.
MISC. REQUIREMENTS: Office and field environment; exposure to computer screens; exposure to heat/cold, wastewater fumes, and occasional exposure to processing chemicals.
Essential and marginal functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting for prolonged periods of time; operating assigned equipment.
