Responsible for providing budgetary and administrative guidance in the preparation, submission, processing, and management of research grants and contract proposals, awards, and agreements for researchers within the institution/ department. Also, assures that the administration of sponsored programs related to research is in compliance with federal, state and private agency rules and regulations.He/Shemanages day to day operations with the Administrative Manager.
Job duties include
Grants administration/review, budget review and preparation including complex program project grants
Management of subcontracts and award notices, other support page preparation including multiple research appointments,
maintaining all aspects of the grants office.
Grants and Contracts Specialist also serves as the departments head Info Ed Super User, department trainer for Info Ed (internally funded grants, Foundations, NIH) and grants.gov (HRSA, DoD, ARMY, IES) submissions, and trouble shooter and development support for the MSSM Info Ed/Sinai Central teams.
The Grants and Contracts Specialist serves as a liaison and policy point person between Grants and Contracts Offices, the IRB, IACUC, Finance, Info Ed, Principal Investigators and their staff.
He/she communicates with, and responds to, administrative and budgetary inquiries from Grants Management Officers of Federal Agencies during grants review, JIT requests, and supplemental and amended information inquiries.
He/she provides Sponsored Projects Accounting and department financial administrators with budgets and justifications for the activation of fund numbers and balancing of ledgers.
Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field or equivalent education and experience. Clinical trials negotiation training (MAGI, etc.) desirable. NCURA or SRA Certification preferred.
5 years of progressive experience in grants & contracts management. Knowledge of grants, contracts, and applications and familiarity with electronic research administration requirements from a variety of sponsoring agencies, federal, state, local, etc.
