Position Summary : This staff position is an integral member of the Development Department and will manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation donors and prospects. This position will be responsible for prospect research, writing proposals and grant reports for both corporate and foundation donors, and will work to strengthen Second Harvest Food Bank’s relationship with key funders.
Duties and Responsibilities (not all inclusive):
Write proposals and reports, track progress, and follow-up and communicate with current and prospective corporate and foundation grant funders.
Manage several grant requests at various stages of completion simultaneously.
Perform research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for giving.
Cultivate, steward and increase giving through existing relationships. Activities include meetings, phone calls, letters, email, external and internal event attendance, timely responses to donor inquiries and acknowledgement of gifts, and overall effective donor management.
Work with the finance, operations, and program departments to gather information necessary for grant proposals and reports.
Accurately maintain donor and proposal information in the Raiser’s Edge database.
Support, as needed, other fundraising and public relations efforts including, but not limited to, special events, public speaking/media requests, gift processing and volunteer relations.
Willingness to perform any other duties as assigned/requested.
Bachelor’s degree required. 1-3 years of experience in fundraising, corporate and foundation relations, and writing and research in the non-profit sector. Demonstrated success in developing successful partnerships and revenue opportunities with corporate and foundation donors. Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising database preferred.

Must be able to take a grant from start to finish (i.e., exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills).
Ability to produce accurate work and multi-task while meeting deadlines, with extraordinary attention to detail.
Must have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills and the ability to cultivate and maintain relationships.
Adapt to a team-oriented, goals-driven department that emphasizes a friendly culture and ownership of work responsibilities.
Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other fundraising database preferred.
Intermediate to advanced-level knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
