The Graphics Designer is responsible for designing and producing a variety of graphical imagery, animations and other multimedia-rich content that achieves the objectives of the Texas A&M University Libraries. Designs and edits graphics, photographs and animated video and audio for use in multimedia.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of experience in graphics design.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree. Two or more years of experience in graphics design. Ability to translate client needs into executable designs. Ability to create original concepts and images through drawing or sketches. Exemplary personal computer skills. Working knowledge of XHTML , CSS , and open standards in web technologies such as XML and XSLT . Experience with Macromedia After Effects, Adobe InDesign and Quark. Basic knowledge of web accessibility standards. Experience creating print-based material, including brochures, fliers and bookmarks..

Advanced knowledge of graphic design software, such as Adobe PhotoShop and Adobe Illustrator. Working knowledge of HTML including usability and optimization techniques. Web design production process and project management skills. Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment. Requires ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Excellent project management and organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple assignments in a high-volume, demanding environment. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative in a changing environment, communicate and work effectively as part of a team, self-motivated, exercise initiative and put forth extra effort in getting a task accomplished. Detailed Job Duties
Designs, creates, formats, edits and produces high quality, original, creative and information pieces for use in multimedia, websites and other online purposes; designs and lays out graphics for brochures, pamphlets, posters, signs, presentations and other print media; develops consistent visual images adhering to the Libraries’ graphic identity standards for various programs and the Library as a whole; discusses needs with customers from concept to creation to customer support; designs effective and accessible graphic interfaces.
Provides color correction of images selected for use in publications and other media.
Collaborates with on-campus clients and web developers to develop user interface requirements. Defines, prototype (with wire frames), and documents highly usable, accessible, and mobile-friendly interfaces to meet those requirements.
Designs and produces a variety of graphical imagery, animations, and other multimedia-rich content for delivery via the Internet that achieves the Libraries’ objectives.
Executes, tracks and delivers new print and digital publications.
Conducts press checks for print publications when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
