Eight (8) Seasonal Grounds workers will work on an as needed basis and be primarily responsible for planting, mulching, fertilizing, mowing, spraying, pruning, edging, trimming trees, plants, shrubs and planting hedges.
Duties include: Operation and minor maintenance in using grounds equipment and tools. The incumbent must practice safety techniques; apply grounds keeping and horticulture practices in maintaining orderly landscape of University grounds. The grounds worker coordinates work assignments as a team member through the completion of projects; understand oral and written instructions. The incumbent also performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Move and haul furniture and other items; assists with application of herbicides and other chemicals; perform other assignments that may require long periods of walking, bending, stooping, and digging, hauling, pushing and pulling. This temporary position is NOT ESSENTIAL; however, the employee will be contacted if he/she needs to report for campus emergencies (i.e, inclement weather, flooding, disasters). STEEL TOE SAFETY SHOES ARE REQUIRED AND MUST BE WORN DAILY.
Some knowledge of professional ground maintenance practices, ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to perform medium to heavy physical work; an equivalent combination of training and experience
