Position Summary:
Implements detailed landscape plans. Plants, fertilizes, applies chemicals, waters, weeds, and prunes woody and herbaceous plants. The Physical Plant Department is responsible for the care and upkeep of the physical campus environment. Additionally, the department maintains the University's district energy system providing electricity, steam, chilled water and domestic water through its own distribution systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; at least 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience: with maintaining and pruning shrubs and flower beds utilizing proper horticultural techniques planting and transplanting shrubs and small trees familiarity with proper application of fertilizers and pesticides ability to organize work schedule and guide others knowledgeable of safe working practices and proper care and use of equipment

Additional requirements for this position:
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A valid New Mexico driver's license will be required if a motor vehicle must be operated on the job. This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the CWA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
