Gas Technician performs a variety of
operations and maintenance tasks on the gas transmission & storage system.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·

Under the general guidance of area
supervision, the technician will build, maintain, test calibrate, troubleshoot,
and repair gas transmission measurement, regulation, cathodic
protection, fire detection, gas detection, ESD, PLC and transmission system
monitoring equipment in a manner to be in compliance with applicable laws,
codes and NWE safety standards.

The technician’s primary responsibility is to
ensure the safe and reliable operation of NorthWestern Energy’s gas transmission
system.

·
Travel to all areas of the gas system can be
expected.

·
The technician will be expected to
occasionally locate lines and perform standby inspection for line crossings.

·
The technician may be asked to expand
skills and responsibilities to fit the needs of the company.

·
Position requires lifting up to 50 pounds and
occasionally up to 100 pounds and various other physical activities in a
variety of weather extremes with some exposure to various chemicals.

·
The Technician is required to ride a
four-wheeler.

·
Nature of the job requires the ability
to respond to call outs; therefore, the employee is required to live within 30
minutes of Butte.

·
Successful applicant will be expected to
perform all of the above in accordance with all OSHA,
DOT, and Northwestern Energy safety rules, policies and procedures.

·
Technician must be willing to take on new
duties as assigned.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS

·
Must
be able to demonstrate a good safety record

·
Must
possess strong interpersonal communication skills

·
Applicants must have a high school or
equivalent education with a combination or training and experience that
indicates a desire and ability to learn and understand complex technical
systems including computers and various types of application software

·
The applicant must display the ability to
think logically and troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical
systems

·
The position also requires a demonstrated
ability to understand and follow precise directions, to communicate
effectively, and to perform technical assignments under immediate and general
supervision

·
The technician must demonstrate the
self-motivation required to work alone, as well as take direction and work well
with others

·
Must possess a valid Montana Driver's License

·
Must be able to obtain a 4-wheeler
endorsement within the first year

·
Successful applicant is required under DOT
rules to drug testing and obtaining and maintaining
Operator Qualification certification
