Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships) • New Hires: Entry level rate $9.96/hr.; Current employees in the bargaining unit: Please refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable bargaining group.
• Must have computer skills. Position may involve supervising a computer lab, data entry on a spreadsheet, and working with teachers to support student needs as they work on the computers.

• Work with intermediate age students

• Will walk the hallways during and between classes.
• Will be responsible for answering phones and responding to visitors. Must do so in a CUSTOMER FRIENDLY manner.

• CAFETERIA duty and SKILLS ROOM coverage.

• Ability to de-escalate issues and student to student situations and must be physically capable of intervening in a students altercation to stop risk of injury to students and staff
• Ability to function as a positive role model for students in a 6-8 building (e.g. fair, firm, consistent, sense of humor, rational, calm)

• Serve as assistant to teacher in general education classroom as needed.

• Ability to assist students with their academic assignments in basic subjects

• Ability to take initiative and follow through with direction by teachers
• Must be able to interact appropriately with all students as a potpourri of assistance is required
• Must be a team player to assist in all aspects needed within the classroom, cafeteria, hallway, as examples
• Must have good "people" skills to work with students, others in the classroom and the building
• Assignments will be changed on a daily basis to meet the needs of the program and students.
• Must be able to implement changes to those plans when directed and follow through for each student.
• Ability to remain calm and respectful when students are in crisis
• Ability to complete necessary paperwork accurately and timely, as guided by the teacher.
• Attend professional in-service activities and training workshops provided by the District
• Position may require extended standing or sitting.
• Must have excellent attendance.
• Must accept direction from teachers
• Must maintain confidentiality
• Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
• Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV Yes No) • Must be able to walk up stairs and for extensive periods of time
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for extensive periods of time
• Noise level is quiet to loud. Work may be indoors and/or outdoors. Work may be in non-air conditioned rooms. Tobacco and alcohol-free environment. Fast-paced atmosphere with constant contact with students, staff, or the public. Direct responsibility for the safety, well-being, and work output of student.
