The employee shall work primarily as an appointment clerk or receptionist, or perform a combination
thereof using the Composite Health Care System (CHCS/ALTHA) or subsystems in performance of duties. The
contract Appointment Clerk shall provide clerical/administrative assistance to the Directorate for Healthcare
Operations, Naval Health Clinic Hawaii (NHCH), located on Pearl Harbor Hawaii, in accordance with this
performance work statement and the terms and conditions of this contract. The Appointment Clerk represents
initial patient contact into services offered to TRICARE patients by the NHCH. The Central Appointment Desk/Call
Center serves active duty personnel, their family members, retired members of the armed services and their eligible
family members to include family members of deceased service members. Services may be required within a 25
mile radius of Naval Health Clinic Hawaii, the Navy Liaison Office at Tripler Army Medical Center, other Branch
Health Clinics or Annexes on the Island of Oahu.

Schedules, organizes the clinic’s list of appointments. Uses all possible sources to obtain and compile documentation.
Data entry: Does repetitive data entry into the CHCS/ALTHA system.
Performs basic word processing: Uses word processing software to create copy and edit.
Uses copy machine.
Ensures patient privacy and confidentiality.
Employee may be required to fill in for a clinic/section other than the one assigned, to cover short
term staffing shortages due to other employees being on sick or annual leave, position vacancies,
high workload, etc.
Visit/call Clinic Nurse Managers/Triage Nurse to clarify appointment schedules, open appointment.


A positive job requirement exists for a qualified typist – must type 35 WPM and possess
a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Uses word processing software and printing equipment to
create, copy, edit (e.g., makes insertions or deletions or moves material from one place to another), stores, retrieves,
and prints a variety of standardized documents using a glossary of prerecorded formats, form letters, standard
paragraphs and mailing lists. Knowledge of medical terminology; able to communicate orally and in writing;
knowledge of correspondence rules and regulations, processes and capabilities; and able to interpret and apply
regulations and procedures. Ability to provide courteous and responsive telephonic customer service with
minimum oversight is required. Must be detail oriented, self starting; have thorough knowledge of clinic
procedures for receiving, following-up on patient request for treatment, scheduling patient appointments, and giving
preparatory instructions to patients. Contract personnel shall have a high school diploma, minimum advanced
schooling. Knowledge of Military Treatment Facility appointment systems, clinic hours, and services provided is

Special Requirements/Certifications

U.S. citizenship or the ability to obtain citizenship.
