Assure that VWoA & other VW AG units are informed about state government actions that affect the Company’s business.
Affect the outcome of public policy processes before the state legislative & executive branches of government, at the federal & state levels institute policy changes.
Build positive relations with state governmental officials & institutions as well as outside organizations involved in the formation of public policy.
Analyze & explain impacts of state legislative & regulatory developments, including effective interaction with technical staff at headquarters & Wolfsburg.
Draft & disseminate internal analyses & reports regarding policy developments.
Draft statements of corporate positions on policy issues including memoranda, fact sheets & comments for legislative hearing & administrative proceedings.
Present company positions in meetings with state government officials, & draft proposed legislative & regulatory language.
Establish & maintain communications with government representatives, industry representatives & representatives of other entities involved in development of policy.
Monitor policy developments in areas of franchise, intellectual property, trade, energy, commerce & economic policy that could affect the company’s interests.
Participate in the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers & its various committees, national governors’ associations as well as other trade organization meetings related to the above matters.
10 years of proven success either as a state lobbyist or member of a legislator’s staff
Capable of becoming registered as a lobbyist & if an attorney, must be a member in good standing of a State Bar Association
Established relationship with Governors Associations, state legislators, NCSL, and other state organizations involved in formulating public policy
Masters Degree in Public Affairs or Law Degree
