Originally, RCC was known as Monacan Hills Country Club, which opened on July 29, 1956 with approximately thirty Charter Members. When Monacan Hills opened, it boasted a nine hole golf course. In 1957, the second nine was opened and the new nine became the front and the original nine became the back. Towards the latter part of the 1950s, Monacan Hills suffered financial shortfalls and a group of members reorganized and formed The Richmond Country Club, Incorporated in 1960.
Unlike many Clubs over the past several years, RCC has experienced tremendous membership growth. This surge in growth has created a younger age demographic and increased the level of family programs offered.
