Requires completion of high school or GED and two years work experience in one or more of the trades areas in which duties will be performed or in related work that clearly shows a general knowledge of tasks that will be performed and will reflect the skills needed to work in a variety of trades areas. Vocational or technical education in a field comparable to the position’s primary responsibility may substitute for up to one year of the work experience requirement on a year for year basis. Successful completion of the interview process, reference checks and background investigation.

Summary of Work:
The incumbent for this position will assist the maintenance section at the Army Aviation Support Facility Complex in performing duties in a number of trade’s areas including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, mechanical systems, etc. within a large physical plant operation. Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Perform carpentry, maintenance, repair and building work such as installing windows and doors, building partitions, repairing minor structural damage, etc.

Perform masonry maintenance and repair work to include mixing cement and plaster and performing minor repair and installation work.

General interior and exterior painting work to include paint mixing and using a variety of application methods.

General maintenance and repair of electrical systems; perform installation of minor systems such as lighting units and related wiring.

Install outlets, switches and lights as needed. Install and maintain the security lights.

Perform plumbing maintenance, repair of the water and sewer systems, and installation and maintenance of associated fixtures such as toilets, sinks, faucets and controls.

Perform recurring maintenance of HVAC systems. Troubleshoot and maintain operation of the cooling tower.

Install, maintain and repair locks.

Perform grounds maintenance duties such as mowing, lawn fertilization and aeration, snow removal, tree trimming and general cleanup, maintain underground sprinkler system.

Perform maintenance of ground support equipment such as mowers, snow blowers, tractors, bobcat and weed eaters.

Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Ability to climb ladders and work at various heights.

Ability to work and communicate effectively with employees, clients, and the general public.

Work includes exposure to hazardous conditions resulting in a risk of physical injury.

Exposure occurs on a seasonal, periodic, or similar intermittent basis.
