Key Responsibilities · Entry Level GIS Specialist needed to join our Novi, MI team.
· Performs routine, well-defined office assignments (technical and non-technical); receives detailed instructions on objectives, complex features, and possible solutions; receives close supervision and review of work. With experience, may be assigned some tasks with minimal supervision.
· GIS analysis and mapping support on projects for public and private sector clients.
· The position is Part-Time and approximately 100% office work on a variety of projects including industrial, State and Federal sites.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: · Perform GIS database development, qualitative/quantitative analysis, and mapping as a member of various environmental services project teams.
· Produce detailed, high-quality cartographic products (digital and hardcopy) and accompanying reports in accordance with technical guidelines and client needs
· Develop databases and manipulate data to facilitate queries related to environmental permit reporting.
· Communicate with project team members and other stakeholders to define data needs, project requirements, and desired outputs.
· Compile, manipulate, and refine geographic data from a variety of sources including public domain, field observation, satellite imagery, aerial photographs, and existing maps.
· Perform regular quality control checks of GIS data and non-spatial databases with minimal supervision to ensure data integrity.
· Manage individual project tasks related to GIS, database design and management, and data visualization.
· Customize GIS workflow and software programs for data collection, engineering, and environmental applications.
Role Requirements · B.A. or B.S. degree in GIS, Geography or related field.
· One to three years GIS experience, preferable in the environmental consulting field.
· Proficiency using ESRI ArcGIS software.
· Proficiency using MicroSoft Office (including Access).
· Experience in producing high-quality digital and hardcopy maps and project graphics.
· Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities.
· Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours as required.
· Resourceful and self-motivated.
· Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
Preferred Qualifications · Understanding how to bring value to project execution through information management and programmatic solutions.
· Experience with ArcGIS Server.
