B.S. in Geology or Hydrogeology.
Candidate must have a minimum of two years of environmental field data collection experience including soil logging and sample collection, monitoring well construction and low flow groundwater sampling.
Familiarity with site investigation methodologies associated with Illinois UST/LUST, SRP and RCRA sites.
Candidate must be competent in use of Excel and Word.
Capable of working on large projects in a team setting, and working independently on smaller projects.
Strong communication and organizational skills required, with interest in the use of database/graphical software for the presentation of investigation data. Interest in expanding professional responsibilities including project scoping, procurement, and task management.
Candidate should have current 40 HAZWOPER training and must have valid current Illinois drivers license.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
Perform environmental field investigation and reporting. Workload will initially consist of 65% field work and 35% office work. Field work to be performed in South Chicago/NW Indiana urban corridor area.
Lithologically describe soil and bedrock samples collected during environmental soil boring/rock coring investigations.
Apply knowledge of geology, geomorphology, stratigraphy, biology, and mathematics to develop site geologic cross-sections in the context of the regional geologic framework.
Design, oversee the installation of, and sample monitoring wells.
Compile and organize analytical data collected during environmental site investigation.
Study and describe distribution of contaminants in sand, groundwater and surface water and determine how to restore the environment.
Assist in the preparation of site investigation reports and maps, interprets research data, and recommends further study or action.
Will conduct or participate in environmental studies and prepare environmental reports addressing contaminant-impacts to soil and ground water.
May apply principles of rock and soil mechanics for engineering projects.
May apply all branches of geologic knowledge to conditions that affect planning, design, construction, operation, and safety to engineering projects.
