Northrop Grumman is seeking a Geospatial Analyst to serve as geospatial analyst in support a Civil Affairs collections system. The candidate will be responsible for gathering end-user geospatial data and product requirements, assist in the evaluation of system capabilities and document future improvements. The candidate will be responsible for creating and delivering system training, and assigning and maintaining user roles and permissions for the collection system.
The candidate will create and maintain geospatial products and data for select geographic areas of interest, working in concert with the Government PM and a Geospatial Data Manager. The candidate will coordinate geospatial data and layer maintenance with the Data Manager and active duty Geospatial Engineers (MOS 12Y) to ensure essential geospatial data layers are in spatial alignment with AOI admin layers.
The candidate will provide technical support to system end-users, reporting software bugs to system software developers, and will tests software fixes and new system implementations as they are available. The candidate will develop and maintain a CONOPS for the deployment of the mobile CA collection system, and coordinate the development, geoprocessing and accessibility of geospatial data in support of the mobile system with the Geospatial Data Manager. Finally, the candidate will assist in documenting the mobile spatial data architecture.
The Geospatial Analyst will serve as the program representative to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and Army Geospatial Center, and communicate collection, standards, technology, and software requirements for geospatial data to support current and future mobile Civil Affairs collection systems.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for all geospatial data used in support of mobile, desktop, and online geospatial applications, and will ensure all data adheres to the Geospatial Ground Warfighter Data Model (GGDM) and Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Metadata Standards. The candidate will help develop and maintain Geospatial SOPs and provide geospatial instruction to military Geospatial Engineers (MOS 12Y) to ensure adherence to GGDM standards.
- Geospatial analysis and production
- Experience maintaining data in a geodatabase that conforms to Geospatial Ground Warfighter Data Model (GGDM) and Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Metadata Standards
- Preparation of technical documentation related to Geospatial Standards and use
Bachelors degree in Geography, Computer Science, or a related field and nine years of experience, or a Masters degree and seven years of experience. (A high school education and four years of direct, related experience may be substituted for a Bachelors degree)
US Citizenship is required
A Secret security clearance to start (TS preferred)
Experience managing NGA data (GIS data and metadata)
Experience maintaining data in a geodatabase that conforms to Geospatial Ground Warfighter Data Model (GGDM) and Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) Metadata Standards
Technical knowledge of GIS software, mapping and cartographic methodology. GIS SW experience with Esri ArcGIS 9.x/10.x
Experience with enterprise geospatial software (DTSS, DCGS-A Geospatial, or similar system), is required. Experience with Esri ArcGIS products, including Esri Runtime, is required.
Some travel (< 25%) is required.
Prior military service as a US Army-trained Geospatial Engineer or Geospatial Warrant Officer
Experience in GIS application software development
