Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or foreign degree equivalent and two years of experience in the job offered or related researcher position.
SLOPE/W and SEEP/W

Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
Perform engineering duties such as geotechnical evaluation, analysis, and report writing in designing and overseeing the construction and maintenance of projects involving foundations, pavements, embankments, levees, and dams. Detailed knowledge and expertise with seepage and stability analysis using the software programs SEEP/W and SLOPE/W, as well as finite element/difference modeling and programming experience with programs such as FLAC and ABAQUS. Knowledge and experience in assigning and evaluating laboratory testing including triaxial compression, consolidation, hydraulic conductivty, and plasticity tests. Expertise in liquefaction and seismic analysis, as well as mechanistic empirical pavement design. Field supervision of drilling equipment to obtain subsurface soil samples for visual classification and laboratory testing and cone penetration testing. Experience of logging explorations in accordance with the Department of Water Resources (DWR) Field Logging Manual. Willingness for work related travel for extended periods of time.
