Non-exempt; full-time; 40 hours per week; varied day and evening shifts; full-benefits

This skilled position is responsible for the care and monitoring of Montevue Home residents, and also performs other related tasks in support of this assisted living facility. Supervision is received from the RN or LPN in charge and the Administrator, Montevue Home.

Examples of Work:
Perform personal services for residents such as bathing, shaving and other duties necessary for resident care
As scheduled or needed, check and record residents’ blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, etc.
Report any change in residents' physical condition to the RN, LPN and/or Director
Care for residents' rooms, bathrooms and dining area
Gather soiled laundry and take it to the laundry area
Sort and put away clean laundry
Change bed linens
Assist with meal service
Assist with lifting and moving residents
Escort residents to and from off-site medical appointments and other activities (driving a County vehicle)
Perform other related duties as required

Qualifications & Requirements:
High school graduation, or the equivalent
Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) registration issued by the MD State Board of Nursing – attach a copy of this registration to your employment application form
Possession of a valid automobile operator's license
Ability to obtain and maintain a Frederick County Employee Driving Permit
Ability and willingness to complete 16 hour training for registry as Medication Technician by MD State Board of Nursing, and subsequent training renewals
Effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey information to residents and co-workers and the ability to accurately complete forms and reports and perform other clerical tasks
Ability to work with sensitive, personal information and maintain appropriate confidentiality
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, residents and their visitors and the general public, with special sensitivity to the needs and priorities of elderly persons
Physical requirements include the ability to lift/move residents who need assistance; to help residents into/out of vehicles; to carry parcels and other items for residents; and to perform general patient care and cleaning duties as detailed above
This position and the physical workplace may include exposure to air contaminants, hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, diseases and medical conditions, etc. (e.g. Tuberculosis, AIDS virus, Hepatitis B virus, etc.) PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:

Work experience in an assisted living facility, domiciliary care facility or nursing home

Additional Information/Examination Process:
Available for varied workdays and hours when needed (including weekdays, weekends and holidays)
Satisfactory background investigation
This position is subject to random drug testing
Montevue Home is a tobacco free facility; smoking is not allowed on the campus
EXAMINATION PROCESS (may include): 1) An evaluation of training and experience
2) One or more interviews 3) A pre-employment physical examination and drug test
