Responsible for the accurate accounting of gift revenue processed by the Office of Gift Administration including daily and monthly reconciliation of lockbox receipts, wire transfers and stock transactions, journal ledger entries on gift transactions, and management of gift auditing procedures. This Gift Accountant is responsible for the departmental communication and daily working relationship with the University's Controller and Treasury groups.
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with preference for a degree in Accounting or Business Management
Minimum of 2 years of fund accounting or budget management experience and familiarity with a University environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: (include unique competencies, certification, licenses, etc.):
Accounting skills including familiarity with IRS regulations for gift accounting and receipting.
Solid knowledge of University policies and procedures.
Advanced computer skills required (including a working knowledge of development and financial systems, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint).
Comprehensive understanding of CASE guidelines and IRS guidelines.
Excellent judgement and decision-making abilities, ability to interpret and evaluate policy and procedural requirements and produce and analyse data; effective written and oral communication skills, organisational and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work under the pressure of time and frequent requests from multiple sources each having their own timelines and constraints and with all levels of academic and administrative staff.
