Description

Our Dreyfus Intermediary Sales department is responsible for promoting and supporting the distribution of BNY Mellon/Dreyfus mutual funds and separately managed accounts to our Intermediary partners in the Broker/Dealer and Financial Institution channels.

The intern will perform assigned duties under the direction of an experienced sales team to acquire knowledge of methods, procedures, and standards required for performance of the departmental duties. He/She will receive training and performs tasks to become familiar with the line of business and company policies and practices. He/She may be trained in functions and operations of related departments to facilitate subsequent transferability between departments and to provide greater experience opportunities.

The intern will be trained the same way we would train one of our experienced new hires. He/She will be assisting our team in sales and marketing by updating our CRM with email addresses and data management, as we are converting from traditional mailings to electronically based marketing. The intern will also receive training on specific analytic tools - Zephyr and Morningstar - and will not only help the team run reports for advisors in order to aid the sales process, but will also learn what the analytics mean and are used for.

Qualifications

The qualified individual must be enrolled in a 4-year degree program and must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. He/She will possess strong leadership, analytical, and problem solving skills. Strong communication and organizational skills is a must. He/She should be able to work in a team environment as well as work independently and be computer proficient. It is preferred that the incumbents have previous internship (summer or Co-operative Education) experience.
