PURPOSE:
This position is responsible for providing engineering and project leadership in support of Silver Line’s technical activities related to its use of glass and insulated glass (IG) units in its window products. The role includes leading and supporting a diverse set of technology efforts related to improving the cost, quality and/or performance these glass solutions.

  • This position will be filled as an Engineer II or Engineer III dependent upon qualifications.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
·

Lead IGCC certification production runs and sample submittal process for all Silver Line IG production lines. If and when failure of certification occurs, lead the efforts to understand the root cause of failures and address long term correction plans.

Act as primary technology support contact for all Glass Room Managers throughout the Silver Line IG production lines. Coordinate efforts when necessary.

Support Silver Line operations, sales, field service, etc. to answer questions related to glass and IG technology

·

Own all formula sheets related to the glass constructions that are used in different Silver Line window products and work with Enterprise Technology Group to ensure conformance to industry standards.

·

Lead the implementation of IG specification changes and/or data collection requirements and ensure those changes are sustained within all Silver Line IG production lines. Provide updates to stakeholders when requested on status of these changes.

Provide support and/or lead projects related to addressing improvements needed in Silver Line IG solutions. These projects could be in response to field service issues, technology modifications, new product development, quality issues or other areas where improvement opportunities are identified.

Maintain the capital improvement plan for all IG production lines across the Silver Line IG production facilities. Ensure that appropriate line-of-sight to capital investment needs is maintained to enable the implementation of the plan.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


S

upport Enterprise Glass Technology team in RD&I on developing new technologies and/or material upgrades that are targeted for use within Silver Line.



Participate in the IG production facilities audit and communicate results appropriately to stakeholders including production and business leads.

Qualifications

·

4 year degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred)

·

3-10 years engineering experience, previous exposure to glass technologies is preferred

·

Strong knowledge of product development principles

·

Strong project management skills and working with a collaborative and cross functional team

·

Background in statistical process control

·

Background in lean manufacturing principles with a focus on creating value/eliminating waste

·

Strong Mechanical Aptitude

·

Strong writing and communication skills

·

Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data analysis techniques in Microsoft Office or other software
