• Enterprise Risk Management
• Governance and compliance
• Trading and risk management, from approach to large commercial transformation
• Business strategy and performance improvement
• Valuation and transaction support
• Energy markets analysis and regulatory compliance
• Maximizing IT and systems to support operational and corporate functions.
PA has switched on nations, turned around organizations, developed technology such as an interimsmart meter, and analyzed multi-billion dollar transmission projects to access new renewable resources.
Target projects focus on economic analysis, risk management, and the countless regulatory, economic, and organizational challenges facing energy firms today. Consultants work on everything from ground level implementation to strategic restructurings with the highest executive levels of our client’s organizations.
Consultants may also be asked to contribute to natural gas and power plant valuation and economic studies, utility performance, customer service and smart grid projects.
Location: New York, Los Angeles, Boston
Nature of work:
The Global Energy Consulting Practice is looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in the energy sector who will contribute to projects covering regulatory policy, transmission development, and all types of renewable and thermal generation. A key aspect of the work is the ability to synthesize a large body of facts into useful conclusions through rigorous quantitative methods. Project work is often subject to intense scrutiny from developers, investors, regulators, or opposing parties, so organization, intellectual precision, and attention to detail is critical. Successful consultants are capable of responding quickly to change and have an active desire to expand their skills and knowledge.
Work in the Global Energy Practice is intense and highly collaborative. Consultants typically work in small project teams, but must also be self-starters, comfortable with working and making decisions on their own. Projects typically vary in length from one week to six months. The support required varies significantly from one project to the next, presenting new challenges daily and unmatched opportunities for learning.
Degree from a top school with studies in economics, finance, energy, commodities, analytical disciplines or risk management. MBA, CFA, FRM or PRM is a plus, but not required.
Work Experience: previous consulting experience or energy sector-specific industry experience preferred.
Skills Desired: Demonstrated skills in economics, spreadsheet analysis, and basic research (information gathering). We look for an ability to analyze economic problems with good intuition, an ability to lead and organize small teams, and a general commitment to excel. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential. Familiarity with the energy industry is a plus, but not required for all levels.
Software: Strong Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills required.
