The Staff Accountant is a member of the Accounting Center of Excellence team within the Water and Process Technologies (W&PT) business of the Power and Water division of GE Energy. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this role will be responsible for all Intercompany related accounting activities including monthly close, quarterly reporting and account reconciliations for specific ledgers. You will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives.

Essential Responsibilities
In addition, you will:
  • Define and implement accounting systems and procedures for financial transactions in assigned areas
  • Adapt these systems and procedures to be compliant with a changing regulatory environment
  • Review contracts / transactions and describe systematic procedures and related acceptance criteria
  • Implement accounting procedures and systems
  • Review, and modify accounting reports to ensure accurate communication of financial results to management / stakeholders
  • Ensure supplementary data is available to meet reporting requirements
  • Review and prepare accounting records
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting internally and externally
  • Communicate with counterparties relating to intercompany activity
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly close process
  • Complete Energy reporting requirements
  • Complete / Review account reconciliations in accordance with GE Policy
  • Initiate settlement requests and process all settlements received
  • Seek continuous process improvement
  • Part of transition team to move ledgers from legacy system to SAP ERP system
  • Coordinate IBS functions

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance (or a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in an accounting or finance role)
  • Minimum of 5 additional years of experience in an accounting and/or finance position
