Job Description

MetLife’s Global Leadership Development Program (GLDP) fosters world-class leaders capable of leading countries or functions across the enterprise. Program participants rotate through MetLife’s various cross-functional businesses; gaining exposure to cutting-edge strategies, products and trends; working with leaders; and, developing the critical skills and competencies needed to become a World Class General Manager at MetLife.

The program consists of three assignments; at least18 months in length, over the course of 4 ½ years, including at least one “outside of home country” assignment to gain first-hand knowledge and understanding of MetLife's global organization and operation as a globally integrated enterprise. Throughout the entire program participants will be engaged in a wide range of learning experiences including on the job accelerated learning, one-on-one mentoring and coaching, leadership and general management skills assessment and development, career planning, networking and exposure to MetLife’s global locations and practices.

The rotational program provides a challenging, fast past work environment while developing deep networks with both senior leaders and program peers. Participants can expect rotational assignments in diverse business areas such as strategic planning, marketing, operations, sales, mergers and acquisitions, finance, investments or product development. Throughout the rotations, participants will enhance their general management and leadership skills, gain exposure to critical business areas, interact with executive leaders and receive frequent developmental feedback while establishing a General Management leadership career path.
Upon graduation from the program, participants will be expected to quickly take on feeder general management roles with responsibilities such as being prepared to lead a business, focus on external relations or influence into a P&L. MetLife’s business needs and participant’s interests will play a role in final placement.

  • A candidate’s first assignment (and one other assignment) will be in the country where the participant has appropriate work authorization .
Job Requirements

A recent or soon to be MBA graduate

Must have genuine interest in pursuing a General Manager career

3 - 5 years relevant business experience

Fluent in spoken and written English, multi-lingual a distinct advantage

Global perspective , mindset, and cultural adaptability

Global Mobility and willingness to work in both emerging and developed markets

High level of flexibility and collaboration
