As part of the Fuels and Chemicals Marketing team, this position will play a vital support role in Solazyme’s execution against its global commercialization strategy. The role requires an analytically minded person, and will play a vital strategic and product marketing role.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Develop and refine market entry strategies for multiple near-term market opportunities in the Fuels and Chemicals industries, e.g., biodiesel, renewable diesel, oleochemicals, lubricants, industrial lube oils, etc.
Develop and refine marketing mix, e.g., pricing strategies, product positioning, and distributions models.
Plan and manage high-impact marketing events, processes, and communications to stimulate demand for business development and sales transactions.
Create and validate detailed value proposition models for products and markets through analysis and customer relationships.
Develop marketing plans for upstream manufacturing assets.
Generate and qualify new BD opportunities through effective marketing communication, direct work with customers, conference participation, etc.
Manage various analytical efforts required for profitable decision-making by the Business Development and Executives teams.
Enhance effectiveness of upstream (oil manufacturing) and downstream (oil and polymer co-product) business development efforts.
Plan conference strategy and engage in relevant industry events.
Establish product presence in relevant markets through PR planning.
Monitor key industry trends, including key market intelligence on relevant oils.
Minimum of five years work experience in marketing and/or strategy consulting.
Strong analytical background and proven ability to distill complex information into digestible recommendations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to present findings to executives and other team members, both technical and commercial.
Record of achievement in both analytical and creative settings.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple commitments.
Collaborative team player comfortable leading as well as executing.
Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
Previous experience in relevant industries preferred but not required, e.g., industrial biotechnology, agribusiness, petrochemicals, specialty chemicals, etc.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field is preferred, but not required.
Portuguese language skills a plus, but not required.
Some travel required.
