The Global Sourcing Manager will assure that Doosan Portable Power receives the best total value for all purchased goods and services in assigned commodities. This is achieved by developing and implementing long term sourcing strategies for all incumbent or new suppliers; identifying, selecting, developing and managing new suppliers; interacting effectively with Doosan personnel as well as executive level supplier representatives.
NPD Support Role
Lead cross-functional efforts to minimize the addition of new suppliers, maximize the effective use of incumbent suppliers, re-use existing designs, utilize standard components, and adapt new supplier technologies.
Ensure effective procurement transitions from Prototype to Pre-production to Production phases. Eliminate OSMI associated with superseded designs.
Insure early and ongoing supplier and tactical procurement involvement in the NPD process.
Commodity Management Role
Negotiate commodity contracts and agreements to meet customer requirements and to achieve business objectives for quality, delivery and cost.
Lead and direct the new supplier selection and development process and subsequent negotiations for all purchased materials. Collaborate with Corporate Sourcing Category Managers as required.
Serve as the primary liaison between the supply base and the business unit in a highly responsive and pro-active manner. Provide critical strategic communication, facilitate problem resolution and help ensure a continuous source of supply of materials for all assigned commodities.
Build strong value adding relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and cross-functional departments.
Evaluate the supply base globally with emphasis on developing new suppliers in the lowest cost regions of the world.
Develop commodity strategies based on spend analysis, supplier analysis, market analysis and total cost of ownership evaluation.
Must have vision and perseverance to identify, select and develop the best suppliers to achieve the business goals for quality, delivery and cost.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Relevant work experience in the construction equipment, industrial off-road or automotive businesses is preferred.
Program or project management experience is highly desired. Experience managing projects involving Low Cost Regions of supply is desired.
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) professional certification is a plus.
Must possess a high level of technical understanding to effectively manage engineered component sourcing strategies and facilitate early supplier involvement to leverage supply chain technical expertise.
Working knowledge of Six Sigma quality/manufacturing practices desired.
Must be able to manage Sourcing activities in a highly matrixed organization.
Polished verbal and written communications skills are required for effective communication with high level globally based supplier executives.
Must possess strong business acumen and the skill-sets required to evaluate sourcing strategies and projects on a total cost basis, tie all Sourcing activities to business financial measurements and results and assess the economic impacts of supplier tooling costs, lead times, and unit costs.
PC skills required: Excel, Outlook, Oracle, Power Point
Education: Bachelor’s Degree, MBA is a plus
Experience: 5 >7 years of experience as a Sourcing, Engineering or Supply Chain professional.
Domestic and international travel is necessary approximately 20-25% of time, predominantly domestic travel.
