DESCRIPTION

Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County, a special district created by Palm Beach County voters, provides leadership, funding and research on behalf of the county's children so they are born healthy, are safe from abuse and neglect, are ready to learn when they enter school, and have access to quality afterschool and summer programming.

This professional position contributes leadership, subject-matter expertise about governmental processes, and local community knowledge that help Children's Services Council achieve its goals and keep CSC engaged in Palm Beach County public policy and governmental relationships and issues.

DUTIES

This position is responsible for engaging local, county and state government officials and staff to enhance awareness of CSC and its role in early childhood development and education.

This position serves as an external CSC representative, building a wide network of positive relationships and offering reliable information, strategic thinking, and institutional and situational insight. This position also is responsible for monitoring public policy and issues related to Children's Services Council, and providing timely assessment of local, state and federal legislation and rules, issues, programs and initiatives that may affect the organization.

This position works with Children's Services Council staff, managers and leadership, and key governments, local agencies and providers to ensure that accurate, timely and appropriate responses are available and promoted in order to create sound relationships and an understanding of Children's Services Council and its programs, policies and mission.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, Public Relations, or closely related field (Master's degree is preferred) with at least four (4) years of broad and extensive experience in government affairs and/or community relations in a position with liaison responsibilities. Knowledge of the work, role in the community and value of Children's Services Council is required.
