West Virginia University, Department of Medicine, Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics is seeking a board-certified geriatrician at the Robert C. Byrd Health Sciences Center.
This is an exceptional opportunity to direct a team of five physicians in delivering outstanding geriatric care at the Bradford B. Laidley 65-Plus Clinic located on WVU’s Robert C. Byrd Health Science Center campus in Morgantown, WV. The Grace Kinney Mead Chair of Geriatrics will also be responsible for the oversight of the Geriatric curriculum for the Internal Medicine residency program.
Applicants for this full-time faculty position must be trained in Internal Medicine and board-certified in Geriatrics. A minimum of three years’ experience in providing geriatrics care is required. Candidates must be interested in providing outstanding geriatric clinical care, concurrent with teaching residents and medical students. Scholarly activity is highly encouraged. Initial rank will be commensurate with experience.
The Health Sciences Center of West Virginia University has the full range of specialties and residencies/fellowships and has seen substantial expansion of the teaching hospital, outpatient clinics, cancer center, and medical school. These outstanding facilities are within a five-minute walking radius on the HSC campus. Morgantown has been recognized as one of the best small cities in the country. The main downtown campus of WVU is connected to the HSC campus by Morgantown’s unique personal rapid transit system. Morgantown is a one-hour drive from Pittsburgh, PA, and three-and-one-half hours from Washington, D.C.
The successful applicant will join colleagues in the Section of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. The Section faculty members provide extensive teaching, clinical care, and administrative service to the Health Sciences Center. Faculty members rotate responsibilities for inpatient services, provide outpatient faculty clinics and precept the residents’ continuity clinics. Scholarly activities of Section members are closely aligned with teaching and service roles that include ambulatory, consultative, geriatric, and hospital medicine, as well as women’s health.
