GRADUATE ACADEMIC ADVISOR, OFFICE OF THE DEAN
Department: College of Education
Assist faculty, staff, and students with graduate program requirements. Recruit graduate students.
Maintain database of graduate students.
Correspond with students.
Collaborate with departments, staff, faculty, and graduate college.
Develop materials for graduate programs.
Coordinate field placements for graduate programs.
Meet with students, both in person and via telephone/Skype, to provide information related to educator certification and degree plan requirements for all graduate-level degrees in education.
Provide support services for graduate program advisors as needed, including Departmental Recommendation Forms, Degree Plans, Course Substitutions, etc.
Create and maintain electronic files for all graduate students in education.
Assist in duties of Educator Preparation Information Center.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge: database management, operating policies of university, public schools, state agencies, and accrediting agencies.
Skills: communication, computer, Banner, SPOL, database creation and management, Blackboard, TaskStream.
Abilities: Communicate effectively with staff, faculty, public school and agency personnel.
Master's degree in education or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Texas educator certification holder.
